"Covenant calls itself and the world to share with those in need." So we say in our Mission Statement. As a congregation we regularly give of our resources to alleviate the suffering of those in need in our community and around the world. We give our material resources---traditionally 11% of our annual budget-as well as our time and effort to serve others in need. In so doing, we seek not only to meet the immediate needs of the poor, but also to transform the social structures that are designed to make and keep them poor. In one of the richest states in the richest country on earth, we believe that having hundreds of thousands of people who are hungry, poorly educated and unable to get adequate medical care is, not to put too fine a point on it, sinful. By our giving, we recognize our complicity in these sinful systems. We work toward great understanding and reconciliation by the creation and enhancement of respectful and meaningful connections. Throughout the year, members of Covenant participate in various "hands on" missions activities. The following are some examples of organizations that provide such opportunities:
