Join the Family Deacon’s Groups for a Blueberry Pickin’ Party!
The two family deacon’s groups are sponsoring a trip to our own Covenant member Sid Moorhead’s blueberry farm during the morning on Saturday, May 31st and we want to broaden participation to anyone who would like to come. Sid’s blueberries are the BEST: big, juicy, and, of course, DELICIOUS! This is a really fun (and productive) thing to do!
Sid’s farm is located near Conroe and takes about an hour to drive from Covenant. May 31st will be opening day and probably crowded, so car-pooling is recommended. The farm will open at 6:30 a.m. – a nice cool time to pick! However, most of us probably won’t want to arrive THAT early. Buckets usually run out by 9:30 a.m. so bring your own buckets if you plan to arrive close to that time.
Since the farm is a big place, your family deacons will arrive early and put up a Covenant sign in the center “aisle” of the farm with an arrow to direct Covenant folks to where we’re picking and chatting. Pick as long as you want and return home at your pleasure. We’ll probably take a snack break (bring your own) between ten and eleven. When finished, return to the entrance shed and pay by the pound. You might like to bring a cooler for your harvest!
Please e-mail me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you plan to come and let me know if you’d like a ride or would be happy to supply one. In the latter case, say how many extra places you have available in your vehicle and what time you plan to leave. There will also be a sign-up option next Sunday, May 25th at the table in the narthex.
