Laura Mayo

Senior Minister

Laura is the Senior Minister of Covenant Church. She is a graduate of Carson-Newman College and Wake Forest University Divinity School. Laura also studied at Regent's Park College of Oxford University. She is active in Houston interfaith work. Laura and her two sons, Owen & Grayson enjoy walking, sailing, camping, projects, and playing games together.

Raymond Stubblefield

Minister of Congregational Life

Raymond Stubblefield began serving as Minister of Congregational Life in October 2024. His service areas include preaching, teaching, counseling, new-member orientation, and pastoral care. He has been an active church member for twenty-five years, having served as a deacon, chair of church council, and Treasurer.

Heather Laureles

Director of Administration and Communications

Heather earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and a B.A. from St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM. Heather discovered Covenant Church in 2000. She loves the thoughtful and diverse Covenant community, and cherishes times when children get to step up as full participants and inquirers. She enjoys hiking with family; singing with the Covenant Singers; playing bassoon; collecting antique fountain pens; volunteering in Judge Duble's Eviction Diversion Initiative; reading; and needle crafts.

Trena’ Jamison

Director of Children and Youth

Trena’ Jamison serves as the Director of Children and Youth at Covenant Church. A graduate of Wiley College in Marshall, TX, she also holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Houston Baptist University. Over the past decade, she has worked in education, taking on roles ranging from preschool teacher to special education teacher. In her free time, Trena’ enjoys volunteering in the community, exploring arts and crafts, and watching movies.

David Lee

Director of Music

David Lee has been Covenant’s Director of Music since August 2021, following two years as Interim Minister of Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education (Choral) from Winthrop University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University. David has served Catholic, Presbyterian, and United Methodist congregations since 1990. A seasoned handbell music director, he has led youth and adult ensembles and started children’s handbell groups.

Jason Steiner

Organist and Associate Director of Music

Jason Steiner has served at Covenant since July of 2023. He holds an M.M. in Sacred Music from the University of Houston and a B.A. in Music completed between Westminster Choir College and Princeton University. Equally comfortable playing, teaching, writing, and preaching, he is grateful to cultivate this whole garden of skills at Covenant. In his free time, Jason is an avid amateur bird photographer.

Fran Avera

Minister of Music, Emerita

Fran Avera joined Covenant as Minister of Music in October 1969 and served until her retirement in May 2019. She holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. Ordained to ministry by Covenant in 1980, Fran previously served as Minister of Music at University Baptist Church in Austin for ten years. An accomplished singer, voice teacher, and choral director, she taught at St. Agnes Academy in Houston for 30 years. Fran’s contributions to music and ministry have left a lasting legacy within the Covenant community.
