Support for Nursing Home Residents during COVID-19
Since early March 2020, virtually all nursing homes in the state of Texas have been placed restrictions on residents including:
These restrictions, compounded by their fears and anxieties surrounding the virus itself, have left residents feeling lonely, isolated, abandoned, frightened and anxious. How can I help? Everyone loves getting mail! Send brief messages of support, tell them a little about yourself and your daily life (whatever you feel comfortable with). Share a poem or picture. Send postcards, letters, cards, kids’ drawings, a pressed flower or leaf. These communications can be sent to the nursing home addressed to: “Female Resident” or “Male Resident” or “Any Resident” c/o Social Worker. You can Google nursing homes in your area, or choose from the representative list provided below. You can also try contacting the nursing home social worker to see if she or he will provide you with a first name or other details of a resident they feel would particularly benefit from this support. For the return address, it is suggested that you put “Covenant Church Member, 4949 Caroline, Houston, TX 77004” Area Nursing homes Holly Hall Nursing Center 2000 Holly Hall Street Houston, TX 77054 Sharpview Residence 7505 Bellerieve Drive Houston, TX 7036 Treemont Nursing Center 2501 Westerland Houston, TX 77063 Heights Home 1950 Heights Blvd Houston, TX 77008 Jacinto City Nursing Center 1405 Holland Houston, TX 77029 |
