As a congregation we regularly give of our resources to alleviate the suffering of those in need in our community and around the world. We give our material resources, as well as our time and effort to serve others in need. In so doing, we seek not only to meet the immediate needs of the poor, but also to transform the social structures that are designed to make and keep them poor.
In one of the richest states in the richest country on earth, we believe that having hundreds of thousands of people who are hungry, poorly educated and unable to get adequate medical care is, not to put too fine a point on it, sinful. We work toward great understanding and reconciliation by the creation and enhancement of respectful and meaningful connections. |

Alliance of Baptists
The Alliance of Baptists is a faith community comprised of male and female laity and clergy, people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, theological beliefs, and ministry practices. Since its inception they have sided with those who are poor, pursued justice and equity for those who are oppressed and practiced peace by exercising a public voice about social injustices.

American Baptist Churches USA
American Baptist Churches USA is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with over 5,200 local congregations that nurture devoted disciples of Christ, living their lives in mission and ministry for the healing of the world. They seek to nurture authentic relationships with one another; build healthy churches; transform communities, nations and our world; and engage every member in hands-on ministry.
Americans United
Americans United is dedicated to preserving the constitutional principle of church-state separation as the only way to ensure religious freedom for all. They represent members and supporters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, coming from different religious, political and philosophical viewpoints, but sharing a common commitment to church-state separation and individual freedom.
Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists
The Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists (AWAB) is a group consisting of Baptist individuals, organizations, and congregations that are committed to advocating and encouraging the full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in the lives and ministries of Baptist churches.
Baptist Joint Committee
Primarily an education and advocacy organization, the Baptist Joint Committee is a leading voice in Washington, D.C., fighting to uphold the historic Baptist principle of religious freedom. The BJC’s mission is to defend and extend God-given religious liberty for all, furthering the Baptist heritage that champions the principle that religion must be freely exercised, neither advanced nor inhibited by government.
Baptist Peace Fellowship
The Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America gathers, equips and mobilizes Baptists to build a culture of peace rooted in justice. BPF celebrates and supports the work of individuals and churches actively engaged in working for peace and justice by raising the visibility of these efforts through their publications and web site, by bringing peacemakers together in regional and international gatherings, and by providing resources, including printed and audio-visual resources, speakers and training.
Bering Omega Community Services
Omega House and Bering Memorial United Methodist Church joined forces in 1999 to offer a holistic approach to care for those living with HIV/AIDS. Bering Omega exists to nurture the well being and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of persons affected by HIV/AIDS through compassionate health care and social services.
Christian Community Service Center (CCSC)
The Christian Community Service Center is an award-winning, community-based non-profit organization serving the innercity Houston community. CCSC currently offers services through the following outreach programs: Emergency Services, Gethsemane Food Pantry, JobNet, Martha’s Way, Jingle Bell Express, Back To School, The Louise J. Moran Vision Care Program and the Sunshine Resale Shop.
Faith in Practice
Faith In Practice is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian organization that seeks to improve the physical, spiritual, and economic conditions of the poor in Guatemala through short-term surgical, medical and dental mission trips and health-related educational programs.
Hospitality Apartments
Hospitality Apartments provides free temporary housing (from two weeks up to three months) and a safe, welcome, comfortable, supportive environment for families in need (who live more than fifty miles away from the Texas Medical Center) who are receiving medical treatment at any of the medical care facilities in the Texas Medical Center area here in Houston, Texas.
Houston Area Women’s Center
The Houston Area Women’s Center helps individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence in their efforts to move their lives forward. They provide shelter, counseling and advocacy to support them in building lives free from the effects of violence. They seek social change to end domestic and sexual violence through community awareness and education.
Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston
Interfaith Ministries (IM) works with 10 faith communities, including Bahá’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Unitarian Universalist and Zoroastrian. Together they provide the foundation upon which IM provides direct service, builds collaborative partnerships to serve seniors and refugees, and channels the faith community’s preparedness and response to disaster. We volunteer with IM's Meals on Wheels and AniMeals on Wheels programs as well as Immigration issues.
Manna House - Third Ward Food Pantry
Our "First Sunday Food Offering" goes directly to Manna House each month.
The Montrose Center
The Montrose Center empowers its community—primarily gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals and their families—to enjoy healthier and more fulfilling lives by providing culturally affirming and affordable behavioral health and prevention services.
Montrose Grace Place
Montrose Grace Place provides a safe, welcoming environment for vulnerable homeless youth of all sexualities and genders. For one evening a week, MGP is a place of dignity and respect for homeless youth, providing them with a good meal, creative activities, referrals to social services, and healing relationships with safe, accepting adults. Every other month Covenant volunteers provide a home cooked meal.
Search Homeless Projects
Search Homeless Projects works to engage, stabilize, educate, employ and house individuals and families who are homeless. Their essential services are highly effective in transforming lives by interfacing with individuals where they are, and providing what they need to get off the streets and back on their feet.
