HELP! Will a savior arrive in a Humvee? Will scientists magically provide technology to assuage our fears? Or surely aid will emanate from Congress. Will anyone even talk about this crisis?
No, we have stories about a different crisis. Help came from a clever, homeless organizer, who taught twelve and the 99%. He reminded those who would listen that they were as powerful as tiny seeds of Bermudagrass; they were on the ground everywhere and impossible to eradicate, in spite of mass executions. He urged them to count on reserves of love within the community, and to create mercy and justice for all, including the little children.
Earth's living ecosystem is collapsing, and our youth unjustly will pay the price for this generation's comfort and conveniences. Considering habitat ruined before today, genetic diversity already lost, and deeply frightening tipping points, the second half of the vertebrate animal population is likely to become chaotic and disappear faster than the first enumerated half, which died in 40 years. The sooner we give up waiting for external salvation, the easier to save Earth's ecosystem, on whose gifts we are dependent. I guess we must do what serious environmental thinkers have been urging: protect the creatures that remain, restore nature, and construct habitat for animals.
